On 29 February 2024, through a presentation at Paris Fashion Week, the RuiBuilt brand plunges us into the persistence of these refuges, where intimacy and curiosity meet to create a unique and captivating experience. In the complex fabric of modern life, where individuals navigate between busy streets and private spaces, there is an often overlooked but essential element: personal space.
A UNIQUE APPROACH
AT THE HEART OF THE COMPLEX WEB
Rui incorporates reflections on the transmission and preservation of information into the Autumn/Winter 2024 collection, exploring the path of honest expression found in the unknown space belonging to the other. The pointed tentacles of the Spring/Summer 2024 collection become irregular two-dimensional shapes attached to the skin and creating a visualised crack, a metaphor for torn relationships. The tugging of the elastic fabric across the limbs, chest, abdomen, spine and throat, in contrast to the warm wool that surrounds it, seems an ingenious balance carefully maintained in the midst of a precarious situation. The textile fragments form an openwork bodysuit, leaving a fragility all over the body, while leaving key areas well protected. Printed jeans, tight hooded tops and baggy sweatshirts leave many clues beneath the appearance of anonymity. The banal appearance and soft texture make the garment an integral part of the individual and an outlet to the outside world, garnering different responses and expectations from the exploration of others.
A PHILOSOPHICAL MESSAGE
The message conveyed by this magnificent Ruibuilt collection is that time is a revealer of truths about life, and can change everything, transforming our lives in unexpected ways. Our personal experiences influence our perception of the world around us, forming the key that opens the door to the unknown. Memories of the past are silent witnesses, offering lessons to ponder and stories to tell. Each moment, each object, carries a profound meaning, inviting us to reflect and explore the depths of our being. By accepting change, by embracing uncertainty, we open ourselves to the possibility of discovering new truths and unravelling the mysteries of existence.
