Lanvin unveils its first "Lanvin Lab" collection designed by rapper Future
On Monday 20 November 2023, Lanvin unveiled its “Lanvin Lavin Lab” collection in collaboration with American rapper Future.
What does "Lanvin Lab" consist of?
Last April, the French brand unveiled a bold and innovative project called “Lanvin Lab“. The concept is quite simply to invite talents from different backgrounds to create a capsule collection from scratch. A creative space that will allow these talents to give free rein to their imagination while drawing on the Lanvin archives. An interesting initiative that allows us to observe the inventiveness of these personalities.
Rap meets fashion
This is not the first time that fashion houses have called on rap stars to design collections. Although at first glance it’s hard to imagine these two worlds coexisting in a homogeneous way, we can nevertheless observe that these collaborations are more often successes than disappointments. After Pharell Williams for Louis Vuitton and ASAP ROCKY for Puma, it’s now the turn of Atlanta rapper Future to show the fashion world what he’s capable of.

“I created a vibe with this collection, a certain state of mind that you can feel when you wear it. Jeanne Lanvin was inspired by her life and her lifestyle. Like her, I create from experience. -Future
The Lanvin Lab by Future collection is unisex and comprises 18 pieces. It is largely inspired by the symbolism of Future’s nickname, Pluto. The former ninth planet of the solar system is the symbol of regeneration and transformation. This collection has been imagined entirely through this prism: a transformation geared towards the evolution of fashion: the intersection of various creative fields and fashion.
The collection focuses on Future’s strong interest in layering, tailoring and accessories. The collection’s distinctive aesthetic is defined by elements such as sunglasses, as well as metallic accents on belts and leather goods.
The centrepiece of this collection is the leather jacket adorned with metal studs, giving the impression of observing a constellation. The combination of leather and metal creates an assertive style, whose elegance will enhance everyday wear. The stars are reminiscent of the world of artist Future.
For this capsule, Future drew a great deal of inspiration from the Lanvin archives. For his denim dungarees, the artist chose a typography found in campaigns for LANVIN perfumes from the 30s and 40s.
The campaign, captured by Joshua Woods, features model Amelia Gray, daughter of Lisa Rinna. The Lanvin website describes this capsule as “drop 1”. We can therefore conclude that Lanvin Lab by Future is not finished yet!
