Louis Vuitton Accessories Design Graduates Initiative : un concours pour les designers de demain
With the Louis Vuitton Accessories Design Graduates Initiative, the Parisian fashion house aims to highlight the talents of tomorrow by challenging them on one of the luxury industry’s most strategic product categories: leather goods.
Shape the future
In addition to celebrating the creativity and talent of design students, the Louis Vuitton Accessories Design Graduates Initiative also aims to highlight their capacity for innovation. In fact, they will be asked to include technology in their designs. Although only allowed as a source of inspiration, Artificial Intelligence will undoubtedly be one of the predominant tools in the creative process. However, it will be strictly forbidden to incorporate elements belonging to the House into AI, in view of the intellectual property code.
A demanding but instructive challenge.
Participation conditions
To take part, candidates must be at least 18 years old and be enrolled in their final year of a Master’s degree at one of the fashion, design and/or art schools or universities affiliated with the project. The competition encompasses a total of 24 schools (all in Europe), including 6 in France: Institut Français de la Mode, Ecole Duperré, ENSCI – Les Ateliers, Strate, and Ecole des Arts Décoratifs.
Selection criteria
In March 2024, the students will appear before a panel of expert judges, including Johnny Coca, creative director of women’s accessories at Louis Vuitton. Based on several criteria, including the quality of 2D and 3D drawings, expertise in luxury marketing and understanding of the House’s own codes, they will evaluate the participants’ projects.
What's the prize?
The five winners will be offered a fixed-term or open-ended contract in Louis Vuitton’s creative department. This exceptional opportunity could well catalyze the emerging careers of these young, freshly graduated students. In this way, Louis Vuitton is opening the doors of the coveted world of luxury to a new generation of designers, while ensuring the continuity of its brand. “We’re always looking for designers who want to create and make people dream, day after day.” Says Johnny Coca, the Maison’s Creative Director for Leather Goods and Women’s Accessories.
Eligible students have until January 21, 2024 to submit their applications on the dedicated platform.
