Moschino appoints Davide Renne as its new Artistic Director

Following the departure in March of Jeremy Scott, dubbed the “Andy Warhol of fashion”, Moschino has made a choice that holds big surprises in store. The flagship label of the Italian fashion group Aeffe, which also owns Alberta Ferretti and Philosophy, among others, has appointed Italian Davide Renne as head of its studio.

From Gucci to Moschino

After starting out at Alessandro Dell’Acqua, designer Davide Renne headed the women’s collections as design director for women’s ready-to-wear for 20 years at Gucci. Today, he has been appointed by Moschino to succeed Jeremy Scott as artistic director, who left last March.

Gucci is in the midst of a transitional phase, with the arrival of new artistic director Sabato De Sarno. Davide Renne will take up his post on November 1 at Moschino, unveiling his first collection for Autumn-Winter 2024/25 at Milan Fashion Week next February.

An "extremely sophisticated" vision

“We were all struck by Davide’s extremely sophisticated vision, his understanding of fashion’s power to create a vivid and poetic dialogue with what surrounds us, and by his deep knowledge of Moschino’s heritage and our codes. He’s a brilliant designer, and a special person,” comments Massimo Ferretti, in an interview for the media outlet Fashion Network.

“We are sure that he will play a fundamental role in shaping the future of Moschino, an international house with an Italian heart and a truly unique DNA in the luxury sector,” he concludes.

Davide Renne will oversee men’s and women’s lines, as well as accessories for the Moschino brand, known for its eccentric designs and bold colors. He will replace Jeremy Scott, who stepped down after a decade at Moschino, the group said.
